The AFI has a stringent entry criteria and members must meet and adhere to our professional Code of Practice. AFI members then are typically companies at the top of their game, not only meeting their statutory obligations, but going much further in providing the highest quality goods and services.
The AFI is a professional trade association serving the needs of our UK fencing industry. We represent members interests on the British Standards Institute’s B/201 (Fencing Standards) committee, the National Highways Sectors Scheme committees and the FISS/CSCS committee. In addition it has strong links with other industry bodies and associations, e.g. Build UK, CHAS, ConstructionLine and CSCS.
Shaping UK Fencing
AFI drives the creation and continuous improvement of fencing regulations through our authoritative knowledge with industry inclusion on key committees:
- British Standards Institute’s Committee – We propose, draft, and revise standards that define quality, durability, and safety for all fencing materials and installations.
- National Highways Sectors Scheme Committees – Our input ensures that Vehicle Restraint Systems, Environmental Noise Barriers, roadside fencing and related infrastructure adhere to the latest safety and performance criteria.
- FISS/CSCS Committee – We influence certification schemes that guarantee competent, qualified personnel across the fencing industry.
- CLC Super Sector 10 Framework for Fencing – as result of changes to the Building Safety Act after Grenfell all of construction looking at pathways to site compliance and education.
- Independent Certified Contractors Scheme – our members can demonstrate the highest levels of integrity with the AFI Certified Contractor Scheme.
- Trailblazing Committee for the Apprenticeship – ensuring that qualifications meet industry needs.
- TrustMark Scheme Provider – Government endorsed quality assurance for our members giving our members customers the highest level of confidence.
- Build UK – partnership to ensure the fencing voice is heard for sustainable growth, productivity, training, recruitment and retention of talent within construction.
