Find answers to the most common questions about joining the Association of Fencing Industries. Learn about eligibility, benefits, application requirements, and how membership can support your business growth and industry credibility.
The AFI is the UK’s only trade association for the fencing industry, representing contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers. We set industry standards, provide member support, and promote best practice.
Membership is open to fencing contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers who meet our Code of Practice and Terms & Conditions. We welcome businesses of all sizes across every fencing discipline.
Members gain access to industry resources, training, networking events, promotional opportunities, and the use of the AFI logo as a mark of quality. You may also be eligible to become TrustMark accredited. You’ll also be listed on our Members Map, helping customers find you.
You can apply online through our membership application form. We’ll ask for insurance documents, accounts, and references before approving your application.
Yes. All members must provide up-to-date insurance, accounts, and a positive reference before joining and at renewal. This helps us ensure high standards and protect the reputation of the industry.
Membership fees vary depending on your business type and size. You can find our latest rates on the membership page.
Use our Members Map to search for AFI-accredited fencing contractors in your area. All listed contractors meet our standards and have up-to-date insurance.
No. The AFI is a trade association — we do not carry out work ourselves. Instead, we connect you with accredited members who do.
If the contractor is an AFI member, you can raise your concerns with them directly in the first instance. If the issue remains unresolved, you can contact us for guidance under our Complaints Procedure.
Yes — we organise FenceX, Best Practice Days and the UK Fencing Awards. These events are great opportunities to learn, network, and see the latest innovations in fencing.
We work with approved training providers to promote fencing apprenticeships, industry qualifications, and skills development opportunities for members.
Our Code of Practice sets the standards members must meet in areas like workmanship, safety, customer service, and business integrity.
We take breaches seriously. Members who fail to meet our standards may be suspended or removed from the association.
