2024 UK Fencing Awards Winners

 

Here is a round up of our 2024 UK Fencing Awards Category Winners, and a little excerpt from the judges comments. 

Agricultural & Equine Contractor of the Year: Samson Fencing

One project stood out for its remarkable ingenuity and the ability to overcome incredibly harsh terrain. The winning team demonstrated exceptional design and problem-solving skills, particularly in their innovative reuse of materials, which not only fulfilled the project requirements but also exceeded expectations. The judges were particularly struck by the quality and resilience required to achieve such outstanding results in challenging ground conditions—where the demands for a secure and enduring fence are critical, and especially by the health and safety considerations of the tick season for workers, and the environmental consideration for nesting birds.

 

Domestic Contractor of the Year: Unique Fencing

 

The winning project distinguished itself through its exceptional levels of craftsmanship, seamlessly overcoming the challenges of installation, particularly in terms of safety and design. These qualities truly set the project apart, leaving a lasting impression on the judging panel.

Gates & Barriers Contractor of the Year: Littlewood Group

The judges were particularly impressed by the winning project’s high-quality installation, which stood out for its ability to overcome the unique challenges of working on a complex, live entrance. The innovative technical solution offered by the contractor not only met but exceeded the customer’s needs, demonstrating both creativity and a deep understanding of the project’s requirements.
 

Highways & Railways Contractor of the Year: Saferoad VRS 

The  project the judges thought was the embodiment of what this sector represents and excelled in every aspect—showcasing the skills, planning, and technicality that are the hallmarks of excellence in highways and railways fencing.

The project was professionally delivered, with strong evidence of collaboration and integrated working, as well as quantifiable environmental and cost benefits. It was a true reflection of the best practices in the industry.

Industrial Contractor of the Year: Knight Fencing

The winning entry stood out for its remarkable ability to blend the old with the new, showcasing both innovation and a deep commitment to the environment. The judges were particularly impressed by the skill displayed in integrating the fencing seamlessly into the natural landscape, creating a harmonious balance between function and aesthetics.

Security Contractor of the Year: Crime & Fire Defence Systems

The judges ultimately selected the winning project based on its remarkable scope, innovative design, and the thoughtful execution by the company. Sports & Education Contractor of the Year: Boundary Fencing & Gate Services

The judges faced a tough decision, as all the finalist’s submitted projects of outstanding quality. However, one project stood out, satisfying every marking category in exemplary fashion. The winning project impressed the judges with its almost perfect client feedback and the comprehensive scope of work delivered. Additionally, the project earned high marks for its strong focus on environmental sustainability, which ultimately gave it the edge in this highly competitive category.

Temporary & Hoarding Contractor of the Year: City Hoardings

The competition was fierce, with each finalist delivering projects that pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved in temporary and hoarding solutions. However, one project stood out to the judges for its exceptional ability to meet challenges head-on with innovative design and execution. The winning project exemplified how our industry can rise to any challenge, delivering creative and effective solutions while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety. Apprentice of the Year: Benjamin Budgen, Cousins Fencing

The judges were thoroughly impressed by the calibre of all the entrants. Each candidate showcased remarkable eagerness to learn, outstanding work ethics, and commendable ambitions, making the selection process incredibly competitive.

Project of the Year: Littlewood Group

This category was fiercely contested, with over 14 truly exceptional projects submitted, each showcasing the diverse capabilities and innovative spirit within the fencing industry. The judging panel faced a formidable challenge, as each project demonstrated remarkable excellence.

Lifetime Achievement Award – John Smith

After much deliberation, the panel is thrilled to announce that the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award goes to a truly exceptional individual—someone whose work has left an indelible mark on the industry. It is with great pleasure that we recognize John Smith as the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
