AFI Mission Statement on Training 2022
The AFI believe that training is at the centre for the progression for the fencing industry to achieve the respect it deserves as one of the most skilled, knowledgeable and diverse sectors of the construction industry.
The AFI aim is that the training we participate in representing or recommend, has to reflect the whole fencing industry, its needs and impact on its members.
This includes all courses that are directly and indirectly related to fencing and its construction, including the Apprenticeship, Sector Schemes, Safety Cards, FISS/CSCS and other certificates/cards of competence required in all varieties of the fencing industry and levels of involvement.
This will cover any training that is a legal requirement, employment legislation, industry sector schemes and a specification to qualify for insurance cover for companies and individuals.
This does not mean that we will be writing the courses but will work with awarding authorities to make sure the content of courses we recommend are suitable for our membership requirements and safe practice.
This is in the interest of promoting safe and responsible training within organisations that is applicable and correct for the industry as a whole, to a standard that is recognised within individual sectors as best practice.
We will champion training in the fencing sector within construction and lobby for the fencing training standards to be recognised across all sites in the future from a range of awarding authorities.
