Early June saw an impressive crowd gathered at Aikengall Farm, near Dunbar to watch 8 teams of professional contractors pit their skills against each other for the title of Scotsheep Fencing Competition Winners 2024.
Despite some blustery weather the sun shone for most of the day. M & A Fencing took the win followed closely by Samson Fencing, and HVB Fencing and John Morgan Fencing, who came third.
The task set for competitors was to erect 70 metres of Torus R8/80/22 –the “Ultimate Livestock Fence”– complete with top lines of Tornado Titan barbed and plain wire, and a turn at one end. The maximum time permitted was three hours. The judging, by a panel of professional fence contractors, assessed the teams on quality, skills, teamwork and health & safety covering the underground work, strainers, posts and wire work.
Peter Hogg, Tornado Wire CEO said “We were proud to sponsor such a great display of high-quality fencing. Congratulations to M&A Fencing for the win and all the competitors as everyone built a good fence on the day. We also need to mention Lewis Knox of Knoxfield Estate Services for his hard work organising the competition, which continues to go from strength to strength”.
