The online claims service for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has launched today. The system is equipped to handle 450,000 applications an hour and employers can expect to receive funds in 6 working days.
Make sure you have the following information:
- Government Gateway ID and password – or apply for an account online
- Be registered for PAYE online or have an agent to do this for you – or register for PAYE online
- The names, national insurance numbers, payroll/employee number and full claim amount details for all furloughed staff
- Business information including employer PAYE reference, Unique Taxpayer Reference or Company Registration Number and UK bank details
Once a claim is submitted you will receive a claim reference number. Payments will be made after HMRC have confirmed the claim is correct. Full guidance is available here.
