Delivering the AFI apprenticeship so that we can continue to bring in talent to the industry remains a priority for us and we understand the frustrations for members who continue to be unable to access this. After the apprenticeship was approved for delivery 2018 we have worked to increase the funding so that a more realistic figure of £8000 was available for the training.
We are now working with providers, specifically those with knowledge of the fencing industry who can provide the training and support that employers and employees will need – this means adding providers to the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP) so that full UK provision is available. Then all AFI members across the country can use this apprenticeship to bring in young people and give them the best training. Once this is in place we hope we will see more intake.
We continue to push the apprenticeship and will keep you updated as this continues. The apprenticeship will also be due for review in 2023/24 when we can ensure again that it covers what we as the fencing industry know is essential.
