Continuing our rugby theme for the UK Fencing Awards, the 2023 presentation day will take us to the home of Welsh rugby the Principality Stadium in Cardiff

On Thursday 5th October 2023 we will welcome all finalists to the Principality to find out who has won! This is a great chance to enjoy a day with fellow fencers, meet new people and celebrate all in fencing.

We’ll have a tour of a new stadium before lunch and celebratory drinks.

Binns Fencing have again sponsored our presenter for the day. Andy Powell, former Welsh and international rugby union player, will be announcing the winners as well as giving a few interesting stories to entertain everyone. Since retiring from rugby Andy has been a huge hit on the After Dinner Circuit. With stories about his career in the world of Rugby, including the famous ‘golf buggy’ incident he gives no second hand imitations! Original stories only!

Andy played for both the Wales sevens team and the Wales national rugby union team as well as touring with the British and Irish Lions.

Andy joined London Wasps in 2010, Sale Sharks from 2011 – 2012, Wigan Warriors in 2013, Newport Gwent Dragons in 2014 and Merthyr RFC in 2016 until his retirement.

Internationally, Andy played his first cap against South Africa for Wales in 2008, then in 2009, Andy was named as one of the members of the British & Irish Lions for the tour to South Africa.

The awards presentation will be a chance for everyone to relax and enjoy the fantastic work we have in fencing. Save the date. All finalists will be invited to the awards day but you’ve got to be in it to win it!
